The Super Bowl was again good for a lot of trailers on Sunday night, including the one for Twisters (2024). On X/Twitter, viewers sound ecstatic about the first images of the upcoming disaster film.
Glen Powell plays a 'tornado chaser' in this 'sequel' to Twister (1996). Daisy Edgar-Jones takes on the role of a scientist, but little else is known about the plot. The new disaster film is directed by Oscar nominee Lee Isaac Chung, who previously to the pain (2020) made.
In addition to Powell and Edgar-Jones, the other roles are for Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Daryl McCormack and Maura Tierney. Lead actor Powell emphasizes that Twisters is not a remake of Twister, but a truly new, original story.
We're not trying to recreate the story of the first one. It is a completely original story. No characters from the original film return, so it's not really a sequel. It's just a standalone story in modern times.
The Internet is going wild
Fans of the original film say they are excited for the sequel and are surprised by the first images that they did not already expect. “That Twisters trailer looks amazing!!!!!! So hyped for this one,” he says.
An update of the 1996 film 'Twister', it centers on a pair of storm chasers who risk their lives in an attempt to test an experimental weather alert system.
