Due to a signal and switch failure, fewer trains will run to and from Schiphol on Monday morning. On various routes the delay can be up to thirty minutes.
Due to the disruption, no intercity trains are running between Schiphol and Hilversum. Train traffic between Leiden and The Hague and Leiden and Almere is also affected by the disruption. Fewer intercity trains run on those routes. And fewer sprinters drive between Amsterdam Central Station and Hoofddorp.
A ProRail contractor is on his way to Schiphol, but has been delayed due to a traffic jam, the rail manager reports on X. It is therefore still unclear when the disruption will be resolved.
There are also problems on the railways in North Brabant. Train traffic was delayed between Breda and Tilburg due to a defective train. There are also delays on other routes via Breda. The NS expects the delay to last until 10.15 am.
Today is the first working day on which NS trains run according to a new timetable. Many travelers on social media complain about packed trains during the morning rush hour.
