McDonald’s wants to have around 50,000 restaurants by 2027. The American fast food chain currently has more than 41,000 locations, but McDonald’s aims to open thousands of new locations over the next four years.
The chain presented its expansion plans on Wednesday at an investor day in Chicago. According to McDonald’s, the chain is aiming for stronger growth than ever. At the same time, the company will invest heavily in automating processes and making its services faster.
McDonald’s saw its turnover and profit unexpectedly increase sharply in the summer months. The fast food chain benefited from successful advertising campaigns and home delivery of meals.
By expanding significantly, the aim is to increase revenues by 2 percent next year and by 2.5 percent in subsequent years. By 2027, the group is aiming for a global turnover of $45 billion.
