Samuel García Sepúlveda resumed his duties as governor of Nuevo León this Saturday, December 1, because the local Congress did not appoint an interim governor who was a member of the Citizen Movement (MC). Now, the party will be forced to replace a new presidential candidate.

Among the possible profiles that would be considered are Jorge Álvarez Máynez, who was Samuel García’s campaign coordinator; Indira Kempis, senator for MC, who denounced the organization for not allowing her to compete to be selected as a presidential candidate; and Dante Delgado, national leader of the orange movement, who has insisted that they will have a standard bearer for the next elections.

Even on October 3, Dante Delgado responded to the possibility of him being the presidential candidate of Movimiento Ciudadano, when Samuel García was already beginning to make public his aspirations to seek the presidency of Mexico.

In an interview with Adela Micha, the MC leader said that he had the right to be a pre-candidate and that, like other party members, he had not given up on the possibility of him being the movement’s standard bearer. However, that was not his first option, since he preferred to look for his organization to win the elections, since he considered that if he were the candidate, the political party would remain as a second force and would not be able to win the elections. .
“I have not given up, not even other colleagues from the Citizen Movement because the Citizen Movement will run for president, so we are not going to depend on what forces outside the Citizen Movement do (…) As a citizen I have the right, as a militant I have right (…) I prefer to lead the project to win the presidency, than to become the second force, if I run as a candidate we would be the second force,” the politician told Adela Micha.

However, the scenario has changed with the departure of the favorite candidate, Samuel García, and events force MC to assign a new candidate, which could be Dante Delgado.
“You do not go? Is there a call that you are not going to sign up for?” questioned Adela Micha. “Of course, unless events force me,” she replied. “What would they be?” asked the journalist. “What people from outside are causing, I just leave it there so that in politics not everything that is done has to be declared,” said the national leader of MC last October.
