Cristiano Rattazzi, the historic number one of FIAT Argentina, who retired two years ago from his family’s Italian automaker but did not stop doing business and is one of the owners of Grupo Módena, a helicopter services company, arrived this morning to the annual conference of the Argentine Industrial Union and called for a sharp devaluation.

The businessman, who is a fervent promoter of Javier Milei and even audited for La Libertad Avanza, assured: “The dollar at $365 is an idiot, it has to be worth about 800 pesos.” He did so upon entering the Buenos Aires Convention Center, where the traditional factory meeting is held.
We are in the desert: we have more than 50% poverty, more than 60% child poverty, 10% destitution, monthly inflation of 20 percent. The situation is chaotic…,” Rattazzi said. “What is coming will not be worse, we are in the worst,” he added.
Regarding the dollar, he explained: “I see it between 700 and 800 pesos. I just hope that they get rid of this stupidity of the dollar at 365 pesos that is useless.” And then he asked, ironically, if anyone had seen a dollar anywhere for 365 pesos. “It’s an idiotic fiction by a band of idiots,” he added in television statements.
In addition, he highlighted that the honesty of prices has already been done: “90% have already been honest,” he said about the dollarized costs and did not respond when journalists, at the entrance to the event, asked him about the prices of the food.
Rattazzi, very critical of Alberto Fernández’s government, said weeks ago at the IDEA Colloquium in Mar del Plata that “the economy is a bargain, it is not serious. And we are in a feeling of hyper. I think the latest measures are tragic for the economy of the future. But the power of what is coming again to Argentina is so great that in a short time everything can be fixed, and we can begin to have a different country.”
Milei’s promoter then rescued the talk of “freedom” again in Argentina “For the first time in almost 100 years, freedom was talked about again in Argentina. The freedom that led us to be a world power. It is a freedom of conviction, not because it suits us at this moment. It is a conviction of freedom. And it’s not just the libertarian party. There is another party that is a sector that thinks the same, perhaps more moderate. There is a feeling of freedom and no longer a feeling of oppression, thinking that the State solves things that it does not solve anywhere in the world and creates poverty, unemployment, creates subsidies, spurious issues, corruption everywhere. We are going to a different country. “I don’t know who is going to win, but I know very well that we are going to a different country,” he said.
