The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will be extended by two days, mediator Qatar reports. The ceasefire was due to expire on Monday after four days, but has now been extended.
Hamas confirms that it has agreed to the extension.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect last Friday. In the first four days, Hamas released 58 hostages: 40 Israelis and 18 foreigners. In return, Israel released 117 Palestinian prisoners.
Last week it was announced that both sides had reached an agreement on a ceasefire. Hamas would release fifty hostages and Israel one hundred and fifty Palestinian prisoners.
It was also said at the time that for every ten Israeli hostages that Hamas would release on top of the agreed fifty, Israel would extend the ceasefire by one day.
Part of the agreement also allowed emergency aid to enter the Gaza Strip. This involved hundreds of trucks with fuel, food and medical aid.
This message is being supplemented.
