Chicago (USA), Nov 17 (EFE).- For the second time in three days, the Chicago Bulls fell at home against the Orlando Magic (103-97), this time in the NBA Cup, and they remain in free fall in a season in which they have already lost five times at the United Center in eight games.
The meeting had a practically identical script to that of Wednesday. The Bulls once again scored just 33 points in the first half, were close to twenty points behind, came back after the break and fell short in the final seconds.
Two days ago it was Paolo Banchero who silenced the United Center with 1.4 seconds left in the fourth period. This time it was the German Franz Wagner, with a great basket with 21 seconds left, to deliver a key blow to the duel. Jonathan Isaac’s free men gave the final sentence.
Franz Wagner finished his game with 21 points, supported by 18 and nine rebounds from Isaac in 19 minutes off the bench. Gary Harris scored fifteen points and Paolo Banchero, thirteen points, eight rebounds and four assists.
The Bulls once again demonstrated serious shortcomings and have a record of 0-2 in the NBA tournament and 4-9 in the regular season.
Zach LaVine, whose future is up in the air and seems far from Chicago, scored 34 points and four triples that allowed the Bulls to come back twenty points. The locals even took a 97-96 lead with a dunk by Coby White, but the illusion lasted a few seconds.
DeMar DeRozan, back after missing the previous game for personal reasons, scored 23 points and Alex Caruso scored 18, going four of five on three-pointers.
The Magic are 7-5 and 1-1 in the NBA Cup.
