Xavi Simons proved his worth again for RB Leipzig on Sunday. Partly thanks to a goal and an assist from the Dutch international, SC Freiburg was defeated 3-1. In France, Thijs Dallinga scored again for Toulouse.
Simons broke the spell at Leipzig-Freiburg after just a few minutes. The playmaker stole the ball from an opponent and found the far corner with a nice shot. It was his sixth goal of the season.
Just before half time, Merlin Röhl scored the equalizer on behalf of Freiburg, but the win went to Leipzig. Former Vitesse player Loïs Openda (penalty) and Christoph Baumgartner (assist Simons) scored in the final phase.
Earlier in the day, Bayer Leverkusen recorded a 4-0 win over Union Berlin. Alejandro Grimaldo, Odilon Koussounou, Jonathan Tah and Nathan Tella scored the goals. For a change, Jeremie Frimpong did not have a leading role. The Dutch full-back has already been involved in twelve goals in all competitions this season (five goals, seven assists).
Leverkusen had to give up the lead on Saturday to Bayern Munich, which was too strong for Heidenheim with a 4-2 score. The difference between Leverkusen and Bayern is two points. VfB Stuttgart is number three, Leipzig is fourth.

Dallinga is in good form at Toulouse
In Ligue 1, Toulouse visited Lille OSC trailing 1-0 due to a goal from Leny Yoro. In the 65th minute, the in-form Dallinga scored the equalizer. That’s it.
The 23-year-old Dallinga also scored against Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday and was accurate six times in his last nine games. A call-up for the Dutch team was not yet possible for the striker.
Despite Dallinga’s goals, Toulouse is not performing great in Ligue 1. The club from the south of France is fourteenth, one point above the relegation zone.
Bottom line Olympique Lyon finally recorded its first victory in the eleventh match of the season. On a visit to Stade Rennais, Jake O’Brien scored the redeeming goal for the top club, which has regained some of its connection with the rest.
