The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing is threatened by hackers, who threaten to make ‘sensitive data’ of the group public. This concerns the same group of cyber criminals who allegedly attacked the KNVB in the Netherlands.
Boeing is “investigating” the threat from the cybercrime group LockBit, which claims to have stolen large amounts of sensitive data from the aerospace and defense group. The hackers announce on their own site that they will put that data online if Boeing does not contact them.
“Sensitive data has been stolen and is ready for publication,” the hacker group stated on a page with a countdown clock. “For now, we are not sending out lists or samples to protect the company, but that won’t be the case until the deadline.”
Boeing is “investigating the claims,” a company spokeswoman said.
LockBit is one of the most active hacker groups conducting ransomware attacks. They threaten to leak captured data if they do not receive a ransom. In the Netherlands, the group is said to have been responsible for an attack on the KNVB football association. That association acknowledged last month that it had paid to prevent members’ personal data from being distributed.
