Two prosecutors want Alec Baldwin to be prosecuted for manslaughter for the fatal shooting incident on the film set of Rust. Prosecutors informed American media that they will resubmit the case to the grand jury of the US state of New Mexico.
Prosecutors say “new facts” have come to light that they say show the actor is “criminally guilty” of the death of a camerawoman and the injuries of a director.
Baldwin’s lawyer calls it a shame that a “terrible tragedy” may result in a “misguided prosecution.” “We will respond to any charges in court.”
The 65-year-old actor was told five months ago that he would not be prosecuted for culpable homicide. A camerawoman died and a director was injured when Baldwin was practicing with a revolver during the filming of Rust in 2021. The gun was supposed to be unloaded, but a real bullet was fired. The actor denies firing the gun.
There is also another case against Baldwin, filed by three crew members, alleging negligence. The actor was also one of the producers of the film.
