This morning, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador mourned the death of three members of the Air Force, after the collapse of the helicopter they were maneuvering in the mountain area of Durango. The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) reported that it was a B-412 helicopter, which crashed on October 12 in the municipality of Topia.

According to the head of the Executive, the Mexican Air Force aircraft crashed in the town of Canelas, Durango, due to bad weather and after the transfer operations carried out in the area.
“The bodies and the helicopter have already been found and the area commanders of the region, as well as municipal authorities, have participated,” said the president about the crash of the aircraft where two pilots and a soldier died.

From the podium of the National Palace, he reiterated that the search for the bodies has already begun; However, because it is a very inhospitable area in the mountains, it is a slow process, that is, a space that is difficult to access.

“Everything seems to indicate that it got stuck with high-tension lines,” said the president, referring to the helicopter that crashed on Thursday.
Given this, the Tabasco politician sent his condolences to the families of the Air Force elements. “We hug them to their families.”

The incident occurred after going to the Air Operations Base in San José del Llano, Sinaloa, to refuel, since it had to travel to the municipality of Canelas, Durango, registering its fall in the vicinity of the town of El Ventoso, in the municipality of Topia, Durango.
The Mexican president reported that everything seems to indicate that the aircraft “got stuck with high tension lines.”
According to a statement from Sedena, the three crew members who were on board lost their lives in the event.
For this reason, personnel of generals, chiefs, officers and troops that make up the armed institute also offered their condolences to their loved ones. They mourned the loss of their comrades in arms who “lost their lives in the line of duty.”
Regarding the expert reports that are being maintained in the area to determine the causes of the incident, it was announced that the Air Accident Investigative and Ruling Commission of this Secretariat, as well as the Inspection and Comptroller General of the Army and Air Force, work in the corresponding process.
Likewise, they recalled that they will maintain support for the families of those involved after the brutal event. “This agency is providing the necessary support to the family of the deceased pilots of the country to support them in all their needs during this difficult time and they will have access to all the benefits that correspond by law.”
