According to the US, the criminal groups related to this opioid are the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel. Regarding this last criminal group, US authorities identified Los Chapitos (one of the factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, led by the children of Joaquín Guzmán Loera) as an organization that is dedicated to the transfer of fentanyl.
Likewise, various blankets appeared in Sinaloa on Monday and were signed by Los Chapitos. The text talked about fentanyl:
“Due to the incessant misinformation from some media outlets and the government’s obvious omission in not investigating and prosecuting the true culprits of this epidemic, in Sinaloa the sale, manufacturing, transportation or any type of business that involves the substance known as fentanyl, including the sale of chemicals for its preparation”
For her part, when questioned about the tarp case, the attorney general, Sara Bruna Quiñónez, indicated that the messages are directed to the government headed by Rubén Rocha Moya.
Bruna Quiñonez also ruled out that in Sinaloa there is sale of fentanyl in its raw material, but she did acknowledge that she did accept that the synthetic opioid can be found since it was processed.
“Of course it is directed at us,” he declared to local media.
