The Republican Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, was impeached on Tuesday in a historic vote in Congress, the victim of fratricidal feuds within his party.
Elected officials close to Donald Trump, adding their votes to the Democratic minority in the House, ousted the “speaker” from his post, accusing him of having negotiated with the opposition a provisional budget to finance the federal administration, to which opposed many conservatives.
