About 55,000 interested home seekers participated in the Open House Day on Saturday. This was announced by the real estate agency NVM.
In total, approximately 9,000 participating houses could be viewed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. without making an appointment.
The Open House Day is held twice a year. During the April edition, approximately 13,600 homes for sale participated. That was a lot more than in the previous edition. More than 66,000 people came to watch in April, 11,000 more than the previous time.
According to the NVM, there were fewer houses to visit this time than in April, because the housing market is now tighter than six months ago. “The range is nicely varied and well distributed across the country,” says Chris van Zantwijk of the real estate agency organization.
Prices on the tight housing market started falling last summer. That made it a little less difficult, especially for first-time buyers, to buy a house. Last summer, De Hypotheekshop reported that house prices were stabilizing based on figures from the NVM. This could be due to the tight market in combination with increased confidence in the market among buyers. House prices are now rising slightly again despite rising mortgage rates.
