Coen Swijnenberg and Sander Lantinga are switching to the new radio station JOE. DPG Media, the owner of the channel, announced this. The well-known radio duo will take care of the morning show for JOE. It is not yet known when they will start doing this.
“After almost twenty years of sitting with the listener back in the car from work, we are going to get up with them on JOE,” Swijnenberg says in a statement on the new station’s website. “We are very happy with this step and are looking forward to building the channel with a new, enthusiastic team!” Colleague Lantinga is also happy with the step. “It’s time for a new adventure and we are going to do what we always love to do at JOE: make a daily show with the two of us.”
‘Passionate wish’
Swijnenberg and Lantinga started as a duo in 2004 with a program on Friday evenings on 3FM. They gained great fame from 2006 with the Coen and Sander Show, for which they received a Golden Radio Ring in 2008. In 2015, the two moved their show to Radio 538.
In May last year, the DJs announced that Radio 538 had decided to stop the daily afternoon show. The Coen and Sander Show has been a Friday afternoon program since October. Swijnenberg and Lantinga also have solo shows on Radio 538 and Radio Veronica. Earlier this year, Lantinga announced in a podcast by Ruud de Wild that he would like to make a daily show with Swijnenberg again. So that’s what’s happening now at JOE.
The new radio station started broadcasting on September 1. For the time being, the programming is provided by DJs from Qmusic, another DPG Media channel. Program director Iwan Reuvekamp says that by bringing in the well-known radio duo, JOE “fulfills a passionate wish of many radio listeners”.
