Koopmeiners helps Atalanta to victory, Inter loses despite Dumfries goal | Football

Teun Koopmeiners helped Atalanta to a victory in the Serie A on Wednesday. The Dutch international scored the only goal in the 0-1 away match against Hellas Verona. Denzel Dumfries also scored, but Internazionale still lost to Sassuolo: 1-2.

Koopmeiners struck hard with the right in the thirteenth minute after an assist from Marten de Roon. Despite Atalanta’s field dominance, this turned out to be the only goal of the match.

In recent seasons, Atalanta has been a challenger to the top clubs in Italy. After the victory over Hellas Verona, the team from Bergamo is fourth with twelve points from six games.

In addition to De Roon and Koopmeiners, Mitchel Bakker and Hans Hateboer, two more Dutchmen are under contract in Bergamo. But the two defenders hardly get around to playing.

Dumfries scores nicely in defeat, Reijnders wins with Milan

Losing Champions League finalist Internazionale suffered damage at home against Sassuolo. After Denzel Dumfries had made it 1-0 with a loud bang, Inter was surprised after the break. Nedim Bajrami (shot into the short corner) and Domenico Berardi (placed long shot) scored, giving Sassuolo a 1-2 win in Milan. It was Inter’s first loss in Serie A this season.

AC Milan, with Tijjani Reijnders in the starting line-up, recorded a businesslike 1-3 victory over Cagliari. After an early deficit, the ‘Rossoneri’ put things in order via Noah Okafor, Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Midfielder Reijnders was substituted after an hour.

National champion Napoli easily won 4-1 against Udinese. Striker Victor Osimhen – who was satirically compared to a coconut on the club’s official TikTok channel – made it 2-0. Feyenoord opponent Lazio won 2-0 against Perr Schuurs’ Torino and low-flyer Empoli collected the first three points of the season by winning 1-0 against Salernitana.
