The record label ‘El Chapo’ Productions is linked to Ridouan Taghi’s son. The Public Prosecution Service suspects that this record label was used to launder drug money.
This is evident from research by RTL News and Follow the Money.
The label was founded in Amsterdam in 2016. ‘El Chapo’ is best known for the music of rapper Boef. Until 2020, the record label released music by him and Lijpe and Ismo, among others. It does not appear at this time that Boef is suspected of criminal activity.
Faissal is Taghi’s 22-year-old son and is currently stuck in Dubai. He is said to be involved with the record label. The connection between Taghi’s son and the record label came to light thanks to encrypted messages that the police managed to crack in 2017. Detectives were able to read 3.6 million messages from the criminal environment.
Posts refer to record label ‘El Chapo’
One of the messages clearly mentions ‘El Chapo’ Productions. According to the police, the message was addressed to Ridouan Taghi and was sent on April 18, 2016: “Hahahaha look at my plan. We are managers, I faissal abdo and you!! (..) The crook clip cannot be released until Elchapo production is there Then we will earn at least 100,000 euros at least hahaha, those are my plans!!”
A detective explains the message as follows: “The sender is discussing a plan. The name “faissal” probably refers to Faissal Taghi, the son of Ridouan Taghi.” Faissal Taghi, born in 2000, was only sixteen years old at the time.
Mohamed K., on paper the owner of ‘El Chapo’, is suspected of laundering drug money in another investigation. ‘El Chapo’ also plays a role in that investigation: the record label is said to have laundered drug money by financing the production of songs and video clips with criminal money.
