Dialogue advances in Azerbaijan after a lightning military victory in which Baku has regained control of Nagorno Karabakha separatist territory with an ethnic Armenian majority.

Talks for the full reintegration of this region into the country have begun in the city of Yevlax, where representatives of the Azerbaijani Government and the separatists of what the Armenians call the Republic of Artsakh have sat at the same table.
The negotiations are supervised by Russia, which has established a peacekeeping mission there for three years. The Russians themselves have been in charge of evacuating some 5,000 civilians of the areas where the fighting took place, which has left dozens of dead and injured.
Russian soldiers have also been killed during the Azeri army’s offensive. The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyevapologized for this to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putinwho in turn asked that the rights of the Armenian minority be respected.
In Yerevan, the capital of this country, the streets cry out for revenge. There are many citizens who do not understand the words of their prime minister, Nicole Pashinyan, calling on his compatriots to “take the path of peace”, although this “is not easy”. Before the UN, Armenia denounces ethnic cleansing at the hands of Azerbaijan.
