Mohammed Kudus has immediately claimed a leading role at his new club West Ham United. The former Ajax player headed his team to a victory in the Europa League on Thursday. Sam Lammers made his presence felt at Rangers.
Kudus had a starting place at West Ham in the home match against the Serbian TSC. In the second half, the Ghanaian headed in to make it 2-1 from a corner. It was his first goal in English service. The 23-year-old attacker came over from Ajax in the summer for 40 million euros.
In the final phase, Tomás Soucek scored for the 3-1. As a result, West Ham’s victory was no longer in danger. Coach David Moyes’ team leads the Europa League group A. SC Freiburg follows closely after a 3-2 win over Olympiacos.
Lammers didn’t need much time to be of value at Rangers-Real Betis. The former PSV player came on after the break and headed a corner wide a few minutes later. The ball ended up at the feet of Abdallah Sima via a scrimmage, who made it 1-0. That was it at the Ibrox Stadium.
The Scots share the lead in group C with Sparta Prague. The Czech team won 3-2 against Aris Limasol at home.
Atalanta has made an excellent start to the group stage of the Europa League. The Italian team, where Marten de Roon and Teun Koopmeiners had a starting place, won 2-0 against the Polish Rakow. In the same group, Sporting won 1-2 at Sturm Graz.
