Gabriel Sergio Martín Escucharini, alias “Cuchara”, fell in Caballito
The former military man Gabriel Sergio Martín “Cuchara” Escucharini led a life full of luxuries. He organized parties on yachts in the Tigre area and often traveled to Europe. He had even formed a basketball team in Caballito. Behind that mask, a dangerous criminal was hiding who was wanted for a vicious assault on a family.

The event occurred on the night of July 14, 2020, when a mega-gang made up of at least eight people was traveling in two utility vehicles with bulletproof vests similar to those used by security forces, a typical attack by false police officers.
They were also heavily armed. According to the investigation of Carina Saucedo, from the Functional Instruction Unit No. 2 of the Judicial Department of Moreno-General Rodríguez, they prowled the streets of Moreno, searching for potential victims.
“Cuchara” is the latest fugitive from a gang that kidnapped a family
When they arrived at the Las Catonas neighborhood, they saw two neighbors walking without suspecting what would happen minutes later. The criminals got out of the vans in which they were traveling and, simulating a police operation, and at the voice of “stop, police” they intercepted the victims, forcing them to get into the vehicles.

Then, the alleged officers forced the man to drive them to his home located inside the neighborhood. Once again, the alleged uniformed officers entered simulating a raid. There, they beat him fiercely, tied him with zip ties and locked the rest of his family in one of the rooms.
In this way, they stole several valuable items, including four Smart TVs, seven cell phones, cash, and a Honda Tornado motorcycle, before finally fleeing. Then, they freed his hostages.

After several months without results, the prosecutor finally requested the intervention of the Homicide Division of the Superintendency of Federal Investigations of the PFA to catch “Cuchara”, the last fugitive from the gang of kidnappers. It is suspected that he had some type of friendly relationship with local police personnel, sources in the case indicated.
The detectives learned that the wanted man had a military background, since he had graduated from the Military High School and enjoyed a good economic background. He showed it, more than anything, on Instagram, in a closed account but with his name visible. There, for example, he published the story that illustrates this note, with jet ski on the Atlantic Coast.

Also, he was part of a basketball team, with which he used to play games in the afternoons in the Caballito neighborhood. In this way, the Homicide Division went to a public court located at the intersection of Rojas Street and the railroad tracks of the Caballito Station of the Sarmiento train.
Once the block was surrounded by plainclothes police, one of them was able to see Escucharini on the playing field. But the fugitive was very aware of his procedural situation, so he was constantly attentive to any police presence; So he quickly sensed that something was happening and tried to escape: he ran and took refuge in a Chinese supermarket.
Despite his escape attempt, he was unable to free himself from the handcuffs. Detectives followed him and detained him at the store.
According to judicial sources, the gang to which the now detained man belonged was made up of civilians and members of the security forces, who were detained within the framework of different investigations carried out by various Prosecutor’s Offices of the Moreno-General Rodríguez Judicial Department.
Curiously, years ago, the Homicide Division worked on a case for illicit enrichment and defrauding the State with the Functional Instruction Unit No. 4 of that same judicial department, headed by Federico Soñora. They detained Lilian, Miriam and Betiana Juárez, who turned out to be Escucharini’s mother and aunts.
