A structural fire in a home in the Villatina neighborhood, east center of Medellín (Antioquia), on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 12, caused panic among the residents of the sector. The emergency, which occurred in a place where gas cylinders were sold, left three people injured.

The Administrative Department of Disaster Risk Management (Dagrd) reported that the events occurred around 6:14 in the afternoon, when the flames spread throughout the house, so the residents of the sector immediately informed the authorities.
The emergency was attended by five crews from the Official Medellín Fire Department, who arrived at the scene with 20 units, after the community alert call.

“Three injured people were reported in the incident, one of them was transferred by the Ministry of Health to a healthcare center,” Dagrd reported.

The authorities also reported the extraction of 20 gas cylinders that were stored inside the house, since there was a risk that the tanks would cause a much greater emergency.

Regarding the causes of the conflagration, the authorities announced that the events are the subject of investigation.
With this emergency, there are already 428 cases of structural fires that the Administrative Department of Disaster Risk Management has attended to in conjunction with the Official Medellín Fire Department so far in 2023.
