“Coup de Chance” is about the important role that chance and luck play in our lives and, in a way, it is a tribute from Allen to his own life:
“I’ve been very lucky with my filmmaking and I’ve had, throughout my life, a lot of undeserved praise, and a tremendous amount of attention and respect. So I have nothing but good luck, and I hope it stays that way. Of course, “It’s early this afternoon, so…” said the director and screenwriter.
A life according to him fortunate, despite the fact that during the last 3 decades he was pursued by unproven sexual accusation that he abused his adopted daughter.
Unlike Roman Polanski, whose last film was also screened in Venice in his absence, and which carries 40 years on the run from American justice after a conviction for illegal sexual relations with a minor, Woody Allen has not had any problems nor has he been prosecuted by the courts. Which has led him to become, in a certain way, an outcast in USA.
Winner of four Oscar Awardssays he would return NY for a new movie “if anyone is crazy enough” to finance it.
