The Federal Planning Bureau expects that the central index will be exceeded this month instead of in November. As a result, social benefits will increase by 2 percent in October and government employees’ salaries in November.
The Planning Bureau has adjusted inflation expectations upwards: for this year from 3.9 percent to 4.4 percent, and for next year from 3.4 percent to 4.1 percent. The following pivot index violations also move forward.
If the forecast is correct, benefits and civil servant wages will be increased twice next year. The pivotal index would be reached in February and June. The month after an exceedance, the benefits are increased, the month after that the salaries of government employees.
The last exceedance of the central index dates from November 2022.
