The German car manufacturer Volkswagen wants to expand its activities to bicycle leasing. The company wants to take a stake in the Dutch Bike Mobility Services (BMS), it has announced.
VW already has a stake in car rental Europcar with BMS’s parent company, bicycle manufacturer Pon. VW CEO Oliver Blume wants to tap new sources of income in sustainable mobility, he said on Monday following the opening of a car show in Munich.
BMS is active in bicycle leasing with various brands. VW wants to become the second largest bicycle leasing company in Europe, Blume said.
