“A 100-year-old oak tree fell on the governor’s mansion in Tallahassee. Mason, Madison, Mamie and I were at home at the time of the incident, but fortunately no one was injured, first lady Casey DeSantis wrote on the social network X early this afternoon. Our prayers are with those impacted by this storm.”

One image showed the juggernaut split in two, with one half of the tree collapsed near the governor’s residence.
Ron DeSantis commented on the event at a press conference, telling reporters that he and his wife had told everything just minutes before.
“I think it’s a very old oak tree that’s been split in two,” he said. Part of it fell. I don’t know if it fell directly on the residence. It seemed a little off to the side. We’ll be able to clean it all up.”

“That’s just gonna be more room for my kids to hit baseballs in.”

DeSantis already has plans in mind once the tree is cut down.
“If we cut down the whole tree, the children will have more room to play baseball,” he said. We liked this tree, but we should get over it.
Hurricane Idalia hit Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, bringing torrential rains and strong winds.
However, Ron DeSantis claimed that the city of 200,000 people was relatively spared from this weather bomb, after forecasts established that it would be directly hit by the hurricane.
“There was rain and wind,” he said. There was some debris, but it doesn’t look at all like the projections that had been made. There would have been a lot more damage if that had come to fruition.”
