President Andrés Manuel López Obrador mocked the possible departure of Beatriz Paredes as a candidate to represent the Broad Front for Mexico, after Alejandro Moreno, national leader of the PRI, affirmed that the polls do not favor the PRI senator to occupy the position heading to the 2024 elections, compared to the PAN member Xóchitl Gálvez.

In La Mañanera, López Obrador insisted that the opposition had presumably planned for Xóchitl Gálvez to be the presidential candidate, even before the contest began in the Broad Front.
“How do you think I’m going to lose the bet, still eh, if you want. No, that has already been ironed out but since, I told you, here I told you, how long? It’s been two months, but they’re still there.

“The matter is getting interesting because everyone is asking the lady to decline, yes, they don’t want any risk, they have already made commitments. How are they going to tell the bosses that it didn’t work out? No, I’m not mistaken, I know them very well, they are very crude, they are predictable, I mean you can identify them from miles away and you can see them,” said the president.
However, he criticized that Alejandro Moreno apparently suggested that Beatriz Paredes decline in his favor, stating that the most important thing is to maintain the unity of the Broad Front and be sure that the PRI will make the best decision.

“Imagine that the president of a party says no more, step aside and that others from the same party come out to say: no, no, no, no, don’t step aside. Beatriz hold on, the people get up! ”, She commented, laughing.
