The lawsuit filed by three crew members of the film Rust against Alec Baldwin is still going ahead. The actor’s lawyers have tried to block the lawsuit, but a judge in New Mexico ruled on Wednesday that the case can continue.
The crew members filed the case in February. They say they were traumatized by the incident in which camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was killed on the set of the film.
Baldwin shot a scene in a church in October 2021, where he had to pull a revolver towards the camera. When the gun suddenly went off, Hutchins was fatally hit. Director Joel Souza was injured.
In April, Baldwin was told he will not face criminal charges. But due to the case of the three crew members, the actor’s lawyers fear that new evidence will be brought to the table that may still be used against Baldwin in a criminal trial.
