In Central Netherlands, the police imposed a fine on almost one in ten drivers this month at several speed traps in a week.
More than 30,000 car drivers were viewed at 59 speed checks using radar and laser equipment, and video vehicles, among other things. This happened between 7 and 13 August on various roads in the center of the country. 2842 drivers were found to have driven too fast.
44 of them drove so fast that they had to hand in their driver’s licenses. This happens when people exceed the speed limit by more than 50 kilometers per hour.
The checks focused on the European action ‘Speed’ of Roadpol, the European road police. Last March, the police carried out a similar operation, then only in North Holland. In addition, 1643 speeding offenses were recorded in a week. Fourteen people have to hand in their driver’s licenses.
