Santiago Creel, who was the first to present his registration in the Broad Front for Mexico as a candidate for the presidential candidacy, dropped out of the internal opposition contest and declined in favor of Senator Xóchitl Gálvez.

Through a video on his social networks that lasts 13 minutes, the federal deputy announced that he was withdrawing from the race to give way to his party partner in order to obtain victory, since he considered that power should not be be a personal ambition, but a means to improve life in Mexico.
“I am convinced that power only makes sense in the construction of the common good, in the creation of better living conditions for all people. Power should not be a personal ambition, but a means to transform reality. Today I announce that I give Xóchitl Gálvez my full support to lead the Broad Front for Mexico ”, he explained.

He also declared that he is a friend of the PAN senator and they have led battles in favor of the development of the country, for which he recalled each step in which they have agreed in Mexican politics: “We have raised our voices against authoritarianism.”

In this way, the dispute of the Broad Front for Mexico would remain in dispute between only two candidates, on the one hand, the PRI senator, Beatriz Paredes Rangel, and on the other, senator Xóchitl Gálvez, who has led the polls since she declared her desire to lead the candidacy last June.

Santiago Creel’s resignation from his presidential aspirations occurred after a group of sympathizers and militants of Acción Nacional congregated in the Porvenir México bloc called on him to decline in favor of Xóchitl Gálvez.
In the letter dated August 21, they point out that “only one objective should guide the efforts of Acción Nacional” and although they recognize Creel Miranda’s “political stature”, they point out that what is “sensible” for Mexico is to close ranks in favor of of Senator Xóchitl Gálvez.
“What is sensible and useful for Mexico is that the PAN members close ranks with Xóchitl Gálvez, the most competitive candidate who has raised sympathy, has generated enthusiasm and has aroused civic interest in citizen participation,” indicated the hundreds of PAN members gathered in the organization. .

Added to all this is the proximity of the third forum of the Broad Front for Mexico, which will take place in the state of Guanajuato, an entity governed by the PAN. This meeting will take place this Tuesday, August 22.
With two forums still to go, Beatriz Paredes and Xóchitl Gálvez are heading into the race for the presidential candidacy, although according to the polls, it is the PAN member who leads the preferences.
