AZ also won the second Eredivisie match of the season on Sunday. The team of trainer Pascal Jansen came back from behind in Waalwijk and won 1-3 against RKC. Vangelis Pavlidis was involved in all goals.
AZ started the game strongly, but fell behind after 41 minutes against the balance. Michiel Kramer converted a penalty kick after the ball went through the hands of Dani de Wit on the spot.
Ten minutes after the break it was already equal through Vangelis Pavlidis. The Greek took full advantage of clumsy defending of the Brabant defense. De Wit made it 1-2 from close range for five minutes. The midfielder got the ball after a nice dribble on a silver platter from Pavlidis.
At 1-3, Pavlidis was again the goalscorer. This time the Greek himself was in the right place to tap in a measured cross from Ernest Poku. With that he determined the final score.
Thanks to the victory in Waalwijk, AZ remained without a loss of points and, thanks to an excellent goal difference, is also at the top after two rounds. The Alkmaarders started the Eredivisie a week ago with a 5-1 win over Go Ahead Eagles.
