Jong PSV started the season in the Kitchen Champion Division on Monday with a 1-0 win over Telstar. PSV acquisition Malik Tillman made his first playing minutes at training complex De Herdgang. Young AZ won 1-0 against FC Utrecht’s reserves.
Early in the game Telstar seemed to take the lead through Youssef El Kachati, but the striker was in an offside position, according to the linesman. Before the break, the visitors had the most chances, but failed to score.
Although Young PSV did not make much of an impression in the second half either, the team took a 1-0 lead after 69 minutes via captain Jason van Duiven. The team from Eindhoven went looking for a second goal, but the desired goal failed to materialize.
Tillman was in the starting line-up with trainer Wil Boessen’s reserves team. The brand new acquisition made his debut for PSV at the Herdgang and was replaced after 46 minutes.
The 21-year-old American made the switch from Bayern Munich to PSV last Thursday, but is not yet entitled to play for the Champions League game against Sturm Graz due to UEFA regulations.
Minimal victory for Jong AZ against Jong FC Utrecht
In Alkmaar, the season opener between the two U21 teams was won by the home team. Jayden Addai scored the 1-0 just before half-time, after an unfortunate mistake in the rearguard of the Domstedelingen.
After the break, Mees Rijks had the perfect opportunity to equalize, but defender Hobie Verhulst intervened. Despite a red card in the 86th minute for Jong AZ defender Loek Postma, the home team won.
The first games in the Eerste Divisie were played last weekend. Relegated FC Groningen rolled over Jong Ajax in-house with a 4-1 win. The game between SC Cambuur and FC Emmen ended in 2-2.
Willem II started the promotion misses on Sunday with a 1-1 draw at FC Eindhoven. Later in the day, MVV was 3-1 too strong for VVV-Venlo.
