Maurice Steijn summoned Pierre van Hooijdonk in a letter from his lawyer on Monday to rectify his statements in Studio Voetbal. The former international accused Steijn of making “dark deals”. Ajax confirms this following reports from De Telegraaf.
In the football program of the NOS, Van Hooijdonk accused the Ajax coach of making “dark deals with befriended brokers about players”. Van Hooijdonk did not explain why the deals were “dark”.
Van Hooijdonk pointed to the 2020/2021 season, when Steijn was a trainer of NAC. At that time his son Sydney van Hooijdonk was still a player in the Rat Verlegh Stadium. The striker was not always a basic player, but according to van Hooijdonk that no longer plays any role.
If van Hooijdonk does not rectify his statements, then, according to Steijn’s lawyer, summary proceedings will follow. The Ajax coach is also considering filing a report against Van Hooijdonk for slander and libel.
