FC Volendam and midfielder Carel Eiting face each other on Thursday evening in an arbitration case at the KNVB. The arbitration committee of the football association must determine whether the 25-year-old footballer can indeed leave the club from the fishing village for a limited amount of 400,000 euros.
The case is on Thursday at 7.30 pm, a spokesman for FC Volendam confirms to ANP. Last month, the club put an option in the contract of the former Ajax player, which means that he is stuck in Volendam until the summer of 2025. That happened shortly after FC Twente had reported to the club.
Eiting would like to leave for Enschede and relies on an agreement on a departure clause, which would allow him to leave for 400,000 euros. FC Volendam is of the opinion that this clause has lapsed and is considering a higher transfer fee.
The left-footed midfielder reported sick to his employer on Thursday evening and therefore missed the first competition match of the North Hollanders on Friday. That was lost 2-1 to Vitesse. With ten assists, Eiting played an important role in keeping FC Volendam in the Eredivisie last season.
Eiting went through Ajax’s youth academy, but never grew into a permanent fixture in the first team of the team from Amsterdam. Via Huddersfield Town, KRC Genk and again Huddersfield Town, he surprisingly settled at FC Volendam in the summer of 2022, where an old acquaintance was at the helm in the form of trainer Wim Jonk.
