Edwin van der Sar’s wife says that her husband is on the mend. On Instagram, Annemarie van der Sar shares images of the recovery of the former goalkeeper, who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage last month.
“Step by step”, Annemarie van der Sar writes with the video. Images show that Van der Sar walks quietly and does exercises around his house. At one point, the former international raises his thumb.
Van der Sar suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on July 7 during his holiday in Croatia. He spent a week in intensive care in a hospital in Split and was then taken to a hospital in the Netherlands.
On July 18, Van der Sar made his first appearance on X, formerly Twitter. “I am happy to announce that I am no longer in intensive care. I am still in hospital. Next week I hope to go home and take the next step in my recovery.”
Van der Sar stepped down from Ajax last May. The 130-time Orange international indicated that he was ready for a rest. He started as director of marketing at Ajax in 2012 and has held the role of general director since 2016.
