The World Jamboree in the South Korean Saemangeum is shortened. Previously, the international conference was ravaged by heat, now a typhoon is approaching.
Youth members of scouting all over the world come together at the World Jamboree. The event was supposed to last until Saturday, but due to the bad weather, the participants have to leave earlier than planned.
The participants must leave the World Jamboree grounds and will be taken to Seoul. The South Korean government will provide shelter in the capital.
Last week, hundreds of scouts became unwell due to the heat. Two Dutch scouts, among others, had to go to the hospital. The temperature in South Korea reached 40 degrees last week. There is hardly any shelter in the area of the meeting.
An alternative program for the event is being organized in Seoul. The closing ceremony is scheduled for August 11.

Organization thought problems were over
The dreaded typhoon is expected on Thursday on the south coast of the country. The event, with 43,000 scouts taking part, began six days ago on a large site low on the southwest coast. These are reclaimed mudflats.
The World Jamboree was also plagued by very high summer temperatures, but according to South Korean media, the worst problems with the heat on the main festival site had just been resolved. About 2,000 Dutch young people are taking part in the event.
