Classic horror stories still remain a favorite in Hollywood. From the popular remake It (2017) to the recent twist of Dracula’s story with Renfield (2023), monster stories continue to be made and so does the classic Bride of Frankenstein (1935). American sources report that Maggie Gyllenhaal will bring Mary Shelley’s classic book back to life with a remake.
Met Christian Bale
Bride of Frankenstein was released in 1935, a sequel to the great monster movie Frankenstein (1931). Nearly 90 years later, it is now reported that the story will be reimagined with Gyllenhaal at the helm. Although little else is known about the project, Gyllenhaal’s The Dark Knight colleague Christian Bale is rumored to be starring. Whether this means that he will take on the role of the iconic monster is unfortunately not yet clear. Shooting will begin next year and the film will eventually be available on Netflix.
Gyllenhaal already had a glittering career as an actress before she decided to take the director’s chair. She received an Oscar nomination for her role in Crazy Heart (2009) and starred in major films including Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Her movie came out last year The Lost Daughter (2021), and this directorial debut managed to win no less than three Oscar nominations.
