The American company Micromobility.com plans to make a bid for the bicycle manufacturer VanMoof. The Amsterdam company was declared bankrupt two weeks ago.
Micromobility.com currently mainly produces electric scooters. But Salvatore Palella, the company’s president, wants to expand the brand. “VanMoof’s strong brand reputation and innovative e-bike technology aligns perfectly with our vision of the future of urban transportation.”
The company announced in a press release that it has now submitted a non-binding offer to the bicycle manufacturer. This means that both parties can still withdraw. Micromobility.com says it is working on a binding offer. The company has not yet disclosed the amount of the offer.
VanMoof was declared bankrupt on July 18. The trustees would investigate whether a restart is possible. A takeover by another company would help the company out of trouble.
