PVV MP Lilian Helder will leave the House of Representatives after the elections. She says on Twitter that she is no longer standing for election for Geert Wilders’ party “for personal and substantive reasons”. What she means is as yet unknown.
Helder has been in the House of Representatives for thirteen years now. In the last elections in 2021, she was in ninth place on the PVV list. She says she will continue to work for the police until her last day. Helder is spokesperson for the police, justice and security on behalf of the PVV. Before her career in politics, Helder was a lawyer, among other things.
“I want to achieve in the House what the people on the street want,” she says on the website of the House of Representatives. “I am in favor of introducing minimum sentences and limiting the judicial power’s discretion.”
Helder is one of the many MPs who will not return after the elections. Last week, Sylvana Simons (Bij1) and Farid Azarkan (Denk) announced that they would leave politics in The Hague.
