No one from the Cabinet has asked Rosa Gutiérrez to leave EsSalud, Julio Demartini slides

The Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Julio Demartini, slipped this Saturday that no member of the Cabinet has asked Rosa Gutiérrez to leave the Executive Presidency of Social Security (EsSalud), a version that has already been rejected by the doctor.

“No, the ministers are busy in our work in the portfolios and in making this Government the best of our Bicentennial […] We are busy working hard for the country,” Demartini said in dialogue with TV Peru.

He added that the final decision will be in the hands of President Dina Boluarte, Prime Minister Alberto Otárola and the Minister of Labor, Fernando Varela, who would have requested Gutiérrez’s resignation a week after his appointment, according to Canal N.

“We are very clear that the decisions come from the sectors that propose and from a decision that the president makes when she analyzes the circumstances. Public servants have to […] do our best so that we can give back to Peru and its people what they need”, he continued.

The arrival of the former minister at EsSalud was rejected by congressmen and medical unions, who criticized the government’s decision to grant her the position after her resignation at the worst moment of the dengue epidemic.

Last Tuesday, during a message to the Nation, Boluarte admitted that his management had failed, but it would be rectified. “Sometimes we learn from those mistakes. Surely, we will be soon to rectify ourselves, ”he assured.

The day before, the president met with Minister Varela at the Government Palace, an appointment that, according to Canal N, would have ended the agreement to separate Gutiérrez from the command of Social Security.

“To the friends of the press, enough of speculation, of lies. By facing corruption, who wants to destabilize me? What’s behind? I am a fighting woman, with a firm and transparent character,” the doctor tweeted.

“Since the presidency of EsSalud I am working 24×7 for the 13 million insured. Enough of mistreatment of a woman who with effort has been trained to be at the forefront of public management. Nothing will distract me, ”she added.
