The presidents of the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Justice and the Council of State signed a transcendental agreement in which they admit 37 of the 137 applicants who presented themselves to the special merit contest for the selection of the next national registrar of Civil Status.

The current registrar, Alexander Vega, who has held the position since 2020, will end his term on December 5, 2023. After receiving applications from 137 candidates between June 27 and July 1, there were a total of sixteen observations to the resumes of those registered, as well as suggestions regarding the terms and conditions of the call.
After closing the registrations and evaluating the observations, the documentation presented by the applicants was verified and 37 of them meet the requirements for admission.

In the event that justified circumstances exist that prevent the eligible candidate from taking office within the term stipulated above, as long as the appointment on probation has been accepted, the candidate may request an extension of up to ninety (90) additional business days. to take office.
This extension may be granted in cases in which the designee does not reside in the place of employment, or for justified reasons according to the criteria of the appointing authority.
