The event will take place between July 16 and 19 with activities in different locations on the island, where talks, field trips and, above all, the flavors that will result from the union of five of the most renowned chefs in the world will stand out. country: Quique Dacosta, Andoni Aduriz, Albert Adriá, Erlantz Gorostina and Nacho Manzano.
Under the title “conserve”, the Meeting of the Seas will seek to unite the gastronomic aspect with the scientific one, since the objectives it will pursue include conserving the diversity and biology of the oceans in a year in which regulations as important as the High Seas Treaty and, in addition, preserve the food and nutritional values of those that the sea itself gives us.
In addition to the Spanish chefs, there will be other foreigners such as Rui Paula (Portugal), Loma Muñoz (Chile) and Luigi Pomata (Italy), leading figures in the defense of the oceans such as Alexandra Costeau, granddaughter of the famous explorer, or Mina Epps, director of Oceans of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The president of the Vocento Group’s gastronomy division, Benjamín Lana, explained during a press conference at the Cabildo de Tenerife that the event represents a “unique space” since it is usual for “cooks to meet with cooks, scientists with scientists and fishermen with fishermen” but when everyone gets together “really wonderful things happen”.
