Central heating boiler manufacturer Ferroli and RIVM warn of legionella after two deaths | inland

Legionella is caused by a bacterium that grows in water with a temperature of between 20 and 50 degrees. If that water becomes airborne in tiny water droplets, people can breathe in the bacteria and become infected. Then problems can arise in their lungs. Most people get flu-like symptoms, but in rare cases serious pneumonia can develop. People with health problems, the elderly and smokers are therefore at greater risk of becoming seriously ill.
