Ukrainian soldiers receive training in many NATO countries: in handling weapons, armored vehicles, tanks, etc.
While the NATO leaders speak in Vilna about their future relationship with Ukraine, instructors from the Atlantic Alliance train Ukrainian soldiers in urban combat techniques. France does it in Polandin a camp whose location remains secret for security reasons.
“There is a specific demand from the Ukrainian military for training in combat in urban areas. We respond to this demand by offering them the best of our experience and capabilities,” explains Benoit, a colonel in the French army.
The instructors teach them to fight in an urban environment, with houses, cars, walls and rubble. Very useful training given the course of the war against Russia.
“There is a lot of practical knowledge. How to enter a building, how to walk past a window, how to cross a street. All this may seem extremely simple, but in reality there are techniques that are taught, that are rehearsed, and that in the first place are demonstrated by French instructors, and then rehearsed as many times as necessary until the Ukrainian soldiers master them as well as possible,” says Benoit.

But the Ukrainian army also conducts intensive training on its territory. These soldiers fight almost daily on the front lines, taking advantage of the few lulls in the war to improve their combat skills.
