1 year, 7 months, and 23 days after the murder of Lucas González, this Tuesday, the Justice sentenced the City police officers who killed him in cold blood at the entrance of the Zavaleta villa in Barracas to life imprisonment. In the midst of the commotion, the victim’s parents celebrated the verdict of judges Ana Dieta de Herrero, Daniel Navarro and Marcelo Bartumeu Romero, in charge of the Oral Criminal Court No. 25 of Buenos Aires, who considered that it was a crime motivated by “racial hatred”.
“I am happy, Justice was done because those who killed Lucas, those who hurt him and what they tried to say about my son, today it was shown that racism was involved. I am happy, this in Argentina is going to mark a before and after for everyone”, Héctor González said through tears at the court door.
And he added: “I am relieved, I took an impressive backpack off my back, but tomorrow I have to continue because I have two more children. Today is Cintia’s (her mother’s) birthday and Lucas gave her the best gift… looking for a positive spin on all of this. We lost him, but we left him on top of everything, I am proud to be Lucas González’s father.”

For her part, the young man’s mother said: “Justice was done. It is what we expected, what we had been asking for since day one. There was racial hatred, we always supported it. We did not expect acquittals, just one. Today is my birthday, Lucas always left me an alfajor with a sign ‘I love you, Má’, and he went to train. I would not have to be here, I would have to be at home, waiting for him, “said Cynthia López before the C5N cameras.
