An alleged criminal died after being the victim of an attack with a sharp weapon inside the Paso del Comercio Terminal, one of the stations of the MIO massive transportation system located in the north of Cali. The events were recorded on the morning of Sunday, July 2, 2023, a few hours after the system was fully operational.

Apparently, the alleged thief had tried to rob three people who were inside the station, but after staging a struggle with those people, the subject was seriously injured and died at the scene. The wound that cost the criminal his life would have been perpetrated by the same weapon with which he intended to rob people minutes before he was attacked.
The information was confirmed by the Metropolitan Police of the capital of Valle del Cauca, which indicated, through its social networks, that the deceased “was a person who had tried to rob three citizens who were in the Station”, in the middle of a tense situation of insecurity in the city for several months.

The situation, which left the people who were present inside the station dismayed, also generated a reaction from the Metrocali company, from which they stated that the events had been generated as a result of a fight: “Evaders who entered the station with a knife the Paso del Comercio Terminal staged a fight that unleashed a tragedy.”
Metrocali pointed out that investigations are already underway to clarify the events in which the alleged offender died. The death of the alleged criminal was recorded after an agreement was signed a few weeks ago between Metrocali and the National Police to provide security inside the MÍO stations starting on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. The agreement was confirmed once time the Cali Secretary of Security held a meeting with the Cali Metropolitan Police on June 29, 2023.
Said agreement will consist of increasing the surveillance cameras, which will have facial recognition for constant monitoring from the Metrocali and Police rooms, both inside and around the stations.
