This will be the new Millonarios sports venue: the team’s directives gave details of the project

These are days and they will be blue weeks for the fans of Millonarios, who last Saturday, June 24, became champions of the BetPlay I-2023 League after beating Atlético Nacional in one of the most exciting finals in recent years.

For having won the title, the Bogotá team saw an important economic income as a prize from CONMEBOL and this represented a good financial relief for the club, which is already thinking about what it can invest its total earnings for the semester. And the construction of its own sports venue is one of the plans for the future.

It was the maximum shareholder of the albiazules, Gustavo Serpa, in conversation with Caracol Radio, who confirmed that the venue is one of the possibilities that has been on the club’s agenda for a long time, and thanks to the more than $3 million dollars that they have been “saving” in recent years for concepts of games won, clauses with sponsors and the box office.

Serpa specified that the first step that the club’s administration evaluates is obtaining a lot for the construction of the campus facilities, so that they are of service to the lower categories and the senior team:

“We come with the possibility of doing things that we have been planning for a long time: a high performance center, we have been talking about a batch to develop facilities for the team, both in minor divisions and the professional team.”

In addition, Serpa also explained that within the facilities, the structuring of an accommodation center for the players is being proposed so that they can carry out their concentration processes without having to depend on hotel reservations:

“We could also turn that CAR into a hotel so that the team can concentrate, we are very close to achieving all those things.”

The Millonarios sports venue is one of the things that the club’s fans have demanded the most from the directives. For several years the Albiazul team has been training in its own complex located to the north of Bogotá in the Arrayanes sector, and despite the fact that it has the minimum facilities to carry out a good training session, the new project proposes to improve what they currently have with the center of concentration.

After consolidating a sports process under the mantle of technical director Alberto Gamero, the ambassadors will want even more “independence” in their work methods and the development of this new project is a step forward in favor of this objective.

For having been crowned champions of the opening tournament, the capital team received a total of 500,000 dollars, approximately 2,037,355,500 million Colombian pesos, which will come in handy for the Bogota institution for the remainder of the year:

“The above is the product of the initiatives undertaken by the Council of the South American Football Confederation -CONMEBOL- headed by its president Alejandro Domínguez and of which the president of the FCF, Ramón Jesurun Franco, is a part, tending to encourage attractiveness and competitiveness, from both continental tournaments and national competitions and which consolidates the announcement made by CONMEBOL since last December 2021.”

The money received by the capital team will also allow the sports management to enter the transfer market and get good reinforcements for the next semester of competition where they will seek to defend the title and the two-time championship.

With the crowning of the opening tournament, the Albiazules added one more championship in professional football and were one title away from equaling the Verdolagas (17) as the maximum champions of the Colombian first division.
