“Nobody wants to vote for a disabled person”: a Javier Milei candidate targeted Franco Rinaldi and was repudiated in networks
A Javier Milei candidate was harshly criticized in the last few hours after publicly discriminating against political scientist Franco Rinaldi, who will compete in the next PASO heading Jorge Macri’s list of Buenos Aires legislators. “Nobody wants to vote for a disabled person,” he said in front of more than a thousand people who were listening.
The person who uttered the unfortunate phrase was Lucas Luna, one of the men from La Libertad Avanza who was running for Parlasur as a parliamentarian and who, after strong repudiation, had to resign. He did so during a virtual meeting broadcast on Twitter through Space, in which nearly 1,700 followers of the economist participated, analyzing the political scenario ahead of the elections.
He was one of the few users who were authorized to speak, the rest just listened. And it was when the topic of debate focused on the candidates of the City of Buenos Aires that he interrupted one of his colleagues and, after warning that he was going to make a comment “with good milk”, he launched the criticism of he.

“Nobody would ever vote, and I say this with all the good milk in the world, nobody wants to vote for a disabled person. And I say it with respect and without bad temper, ”said Luna, referring to Rinaldi.
The reaction of the moderators was instantaneous. “How are you going to say that? Let me know when you are going to say something like that, there are many people listening, you can’t”, challenged one of the interlocutors. The rest began to defend the candidate for Buenos Aires legislator: they did so by highlighting his intelligence and asking for “straight red” for the libertarian for his sayings. Even Carlos Maslatón, one of those present at the meeting, disconnected from the meeting after the phrase was pronounced.
Despite the widespread repudiation, Luna maintained her position and insisted that her opinion was without missing the rest. In addition, he questioned his classmates for being outraged.
“But it is reality, you cannot be angry. It is with respect, there is no chicana here. People want to vote someone like one. It’s reality. This is how it is, ”he defended his comment.
The release of Franco Rinaldi
Before changing the theme, one of the users turned on his microphone and exposed the position to which Luna aspires. “A Parlasur participant, here we have him,” said a woman. A boy, in an ironic tone, joined: “The Parlasur de Milei fell.”
Once the meeting concluded, the candidate’s statements began to spread on social networks and reached Franco Rinaldi, who echoed the comment and published a series of posts in repudiation of it.
“Deep rejection of the statements of the user Sagaz, who I understand is called Lucas Luna and is a candidate for parlasur for Milei’s party. The tone of his statements made me very sad and his statements, which I consider to be sincere, despite a certain sarcasm, are incorrect, ”posted the political scientist.
Franco Rinaldi will head Jorge Macri’s list of Buenos Aires legislators
In this sense, he stressed that “the requirements to represent, legislate, manage and govern are independent of disability” and assured that “many people do not vote for people like one, rather the opposite.”
“The qualities to be voteable, in short, go by another path than that of disability or non-disability. Nobody is voted for his disability, but it does not stop being so either, ”Rinaldi emphasized in this regard.
Towards the end of his disclaimer, he listed some cases of leaders with disabilities who were democratically elected and concluded: “Excuse the pedantry, also, I think I am good proof that a person with a disability can be tremendously eligible and eventually highly voted . That being said, I am against any cancellation or censorship of freedom of expression. cheers!”
