American actor Frederic Forrest has died at the age of 86. He starred in the 1979 film Apocalypse Now and The Rose, among others.
In The Rose he starred with actress Bette Midler. She names him Twitter a remarkable actor and a brilliant human being. “I was lucky to have him in my life. He was at peace with it.”
Forrest played roles in several films by director Francis Ford Coppola, of which the Vietnam epic Apocalypse Now is the most famous. Coppola calls Forrest a sweet and much loved person, a great actor and good friend. “His loss breaks my heart.”
Actress Midler thanks all of Forrest’s fans and friends for their support over the past few months. The actor died at his home in Santa Monica (California) after a long illness, writes Hollywood Reporter. In order to continue to pay for his care at home, a crowdfunding campaign was set up last September.
Forrest was married twice for about three years and divorced both wives. The last film he appeared in was All the King’s Men from 2006.
