Betssy Chávez did not show resistance when she was arrested, according to the PNP.
A little over six months ago, former congresswoman Betssy Chávez held the ministerial belt, but now she hides her face and her framed hands while the authorities take her to serve the 18-month pretrial detention against her. After Judge César San Martín confirmed her detention, she was taken to a Judiciary jail in Tacna where she spent her first night as a prisoner.

The authorities have decided that the former president of the Council of Ministers be transferred to Lima so that she can be sent to a prison in the capital. Colonel of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), Ramón Ramos, has stressed that Chávez has collaborated at all times. However, members of the press were reportedly attacked by the relatives of the former congresswoman when they went to her home to witness her capture.
