The first episode of The Walking Dead spin-off was aired on American cable channel AMC last Sunday The Walking Dead: Dead City (2023– ) to see. The makers use the fairly successful start as a grateful stepping stone to more, because a second spin-off series about Daryl Dixon.
Well-known characters in a new guise
The new spin-off initiatives focus on various actors who already claimed a leading role in the original series. For example, Dead City is about Maggie and Negan, who end up together in a zombie-controlled New York after a tragic kidnapping. A few weeks ago, AMC announced that it had also started production on a series about Daryl Dixon, the protagonist of the last three Walking Dead seasons:
Now that Dead City has premiered, the makers believe the time is right to reveal more about the next spin-off. The first episode contained a small hint at Daryl Dixon, and during its release, the creators also released the first teaser images:
French zombie madness
Following The Walking Dead Season 11’s grand finale, Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) travels across the Atlantic to find even more craziness in France. In his journey through the country, he meets Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), who is a member of a progressive religious group, and Quinn (Adam Nagaitis), who manages a nightclub in post-apocalyptic Paris, among others. Daryl Dixon is helmed by David Zabel, who served as a producer on the hit hospital drama from 2002 to 2009 IS (1994–2009).
Waiting for the Dutch scoop
The current spin-off mania of the television network will sound like music to the ears of fans of the original series, but for now we are still waiting for Dutch release dates. The Walking Dead seasons all eventually ended up on Netflix and Disney +, but no release information is yet known for Dead City and Daryl Dixon. Of course we will inform you if this changes.
